TREE BRAIDING HAIR, by Marie Walker, Natural Hairstylist
Tree braiding is a versatile hair style that is becoming very popular. It is achieved by combining cornrows with the look and feel of free flowing hair. This style gives your hair a break from chemicals, heat styles, brushing and combing and is almost undetectable if done properly.
To achieve this hairstyle, small portions of hair is removed from the cornrow as you braid. The loose hair serves as a camouflage to cover or hide the cornrow base. This technique can be done with human hair and synthetic fiber allowing for a variety of styles.
How to Care for the Hair
With proper care and maintenance, the style will last 2-3 months.
- Care for your braided style by washing with diluted shampoo once a week.
- Use a liquid leave-in conditioner or braid spray twice a week on the cornrow base to keep your hair moisturized.
- Oil your scalp between the parts with a light oil 2-3 times a week and spray the length of your hair with an oil sheen daily to prevent frizzing.
- Before going to sleep, wear a silk or satin scarf or cap to prevent hair from drying out.
