Reflexology is a principal based science that states there are reflexes in the feet, hands and face that correspond directly to glands, organs, and other parts of the body. It has roots in the old world such as China, Japan, Russia, and Egypt. In China, the early physicians used acupressure and reflexology to heal the body.
Reflexology is a holistic therapy approach where the whole body is treated. It is a deeply relaxing therapy that stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic system. Each gland and organ are interconnected. When stimulated, they improve your health.
The body is divided into 10 energy zones from head to toe. There are 5 zones on each side of the midline (center) of the body. Energy flows through these zones and ends in the feet and hands that form reflex points. The right foot represents the right side of the body and the left foot represents the left side of the body. There are organs on both sides of the body. The right lung corresponds to the right foot and the left lung corresponds to the left foot. Applying pressure, using the thumbs and fingers, stimulates reflex areas that correspond to different parts of the body.
Reflexology benefits all age groups and has a positive effect on our health in many ways, such as:
- Clears away blockages in the flow of energy throughout the body, helping to reduce stress, tension, and alleviate pain.
- Improves circulation, stimulates a sluggish and congested system, and increases energy and vitality.
- Balances the nervous system, boosts the lymphatic function.
- Improves sleep patterns, detoxifies and cleanses the body, improves skin tone and condition, and promotes self healing.
If you have persistent aches and pains, reflexology is an effective way to communicate with your body to heal the source of your pain. So before running to the doctors to get a pill, a shot, or surgery, try several sessions of reflexology. Chances are most discomfort comes from stress, anxiety, fear, hatred, negative thoughts, behavior, and of course poor eating habits.
