Ladies, it can be a challenge to keep a youthful vibrant appearance. Never fear, help is available. When it comes to facial skin, prevention is the key!

While it may be true that what you put in your body is what will come out; the same is true with your Skin – what you put on your skin is what will come out. You might wonder what this means.   Well, let’s take a look at some suggested beauty routines:

In the Morning

  • Cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturize.
  • Protect your face by wearing a sunscreen between 15 and 35 SPF.  This will help slow the aging process. Sunscreen can be found in some moisturizers.
  • If you have time, give your face a specialty treatment; such as a toning mask.

In the Evening

  • Cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturize.
  • Add your specialty creams for the eyes, neck fade creams or acne treatments.

Now, let’s break it down so that we can be on our way to beauty at any age.  Here are a few suggestions for your skin in stages; 20’s, 30’s, 40’s 50’s and up:

At 20

Your skin may be in fairly good condition, however you may be experiencing some stress related acne. Don’t worry, a good cleansing, an over the counter acne cream and an exfoliating cleanser (unless you have active acne bumps) should work.  A diet of fruits, vegetables and water is helpful for healthy skin. Look for products with Retinol which is a derivative that helps promote collagen and keeps the little lines at bay.  Your body is producing good amounts of collagen (rubber band of the skin) so a good night cream is in order to help keep the skin’s elasticity .   Did you know that the hands show the first signs of aging? So remember to keep them well moisturized and nails manicured.

30’s

Estrogen levels change, collagen begins to lose its bounce back ability and some radiance is lost. Look for products with the ingredient called hyaluronic acid, known to help keep skin moist and plump.   FYI – all skin needs moisture not oil.  A microdermabrasion product¹  used once a week will help skin continue to glow and fight the dull aging look.  Also exfoliate daily with a gentle but thorough scrub cleanser.

40’s

Your changing estrogen levels make your skin very delicate, so treat it with special care.  Wash your face lightly in the morning to preserve the natural oils, but layer on extras, such as, moisturizers and specialty creams to firm and enhance the glow of your skin.  Perhaps by now your eyes  could be showing more aging signs, so definitely use an eye cream daily both in the morning and at night.

50’s and up

If you are not using a beauty regime by this time, you either have some great genes or you may not be looking your absolute best. If your skin is dull, sagging, rough in texture, fine lines, wrinkles and/or blotchy, look for products that specifically say the words ²”for repair.” Those products should have ingredients that are vital to your skin’s recovery.

Having a simple beauty regimen that works is critical.  Using products from the same line will yield better results.  Spend money on quality products –  you’re worth it!
