Camping With Gail, Troop 4454 Scout Leader, Regina Jeter
BTM—Not many “Mature Women” or any women period that I know likes camping because of the bugs, mosquitos and other creepy things all around and about. But there’s always an exception. Gail R. Smith is this exception. Here’s her story why camping may not be as bad as we think.
GAIL – I love camping because of the joy of being outdoors, hearing the sounds of nature and the smell of fresh open air. It’s a world of perfect peace and serenity. I also love introducing young scouts to the new things they can learn about nature.
My favorite past time for camping is being around the open fire. Building a big fire is great. Gathering the wood and piling it just right, so that it will burn all aflame. And, once you get it going, there’s definitely a feeling of accomplishment.
Food cooked over a campfire tastes better too. No matter what you are making, there is no better taste then when food is prepared over an open flame. Camp food can also be fun to make, such as s’mores, seasoned chicken foil packets and burgers on a stick.
Camping is a great way to enjoy day and/or evening with family and friends. It is a natural response to relieve the pressures of everyday life.
BTM— Ok “Mature Women,”, are you ready to go out on that camping adventure? If you’re not sure give me a call and I will hook you up with Gail, the “camping queen.”
